How did what you read today make you feel? Why?
Although I am liking the book a lot so far, the very beginning where Susie gets raped and murdered didn't appeal to me. I didn't like imagining this happening, but without it the book would not make sense. It made me sort of sad to read.
What character do you like most in this book and/or what character do you like least?
I really like Susie Salmon's character. One of the main reasons is because while she was living, she obviously was comfortable with herself and didn't care much about fitting in. For example. she wears yellow bell-bottoms and her favorite pin says "Hippy Dippy Says Love". I don't know anyone that would wear either of those! One thing I wish she didn't do, though, was follow Mr. Harvey into the underground room. I would never have done that; it seemed way too sketchy for me. Other than that though, she is a pretty strong female character.
A character I really don't like, though, is obviously Mr. Harvey. He has a lot of guts to murder an innocent 14-year old, then talk to her family as if he has no idea what happened. I think his character is sickening. I am disappointed in his actions, because the book says that Susie was not the first girl he murdered. The sad part is, there really are people like this in the world.
